About the artist

Robert Schleich (1845 Munich – 1934) was a German landscape painter, son of copper engraver Adrian Schleich (1812—1894) and grandson of engraver Johann Karl Schleich (1759—1842). He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Wilhelm von Diez and later received a professorship there. He was elected an honorary member of the Munich Academy and appointed professor. Robert Schleich was a member of the German Reich Association of Visual Artists and the Munich Artists’ Cooperative.  He exclusively painted landscapes of haymaking and alpine mountain villages
