The art of enamelling or Minakari was introduced to the Indian sub-continent by artisans from Akbar’s court, who learnt this craft from the Europeans settled in Portuguese Goa. The process involves creation of decorative layers through the fusion of brilliantly coloured glass onto metals. Mughal enamel art distinguishes itself by its use of signature motifs that draw inspiration from flowers, fruits, trees, vines, birds and calligraphy.
Very good condition – small loss to enamel under the rim see photo, and a slight ding in the lip
